Appointments & fees
As a result of the working restrictions that began in 2020 due to covid-19, I began conducting consultations online, mostly via Zoom. It turned out that working remotely has its benefits - not only can I now work with clients from a much wider area, but also many clients find it easier to fit in appointments during the day whilst working from home. Once restrictions eased I opted to offer both forms of consultation, so now clients have the option of online appointments or ‘in person’ consultations here in Beaconsfield. Appointments can be requested via phone, email, or the contact form on this site. Before your initial consultation it is usually helpful to have a brief phone chat about what’s troubling you to establish the best therapy approach for you. There is no commitment at any stage to sign up for a number of sessions.
Initial consultation
In the initial consultation we will discuss in detail what changes you are looking for help with and your expectations of therapy. You have the opportunity to discover more about the choice of therapeutic options available, to raise any doubts or concerns you might have, and to decide if I am the right therapist for you. We will agree how to work most effectively together to achieve the right outcome for you. If for any reason you are unsure about continuing you can leave with no commitment to any further therapy. If however you’re happy with the approach we’re taking and want to continue we will arrange your next appointment and be ready to start the process of making positive changes.
therapy sessions
Standard therapy sessions last 50-55 minutes. Appointments starting between the hours of 9.30am and 5.00pm are charged at the basic rate of £80.00 Appointments can also be made between 5.00pm and 8.00pm, charged at a premium rate of £95.00. All appointments where more than one person attends, e.g. couples or families, are also charged at premium rate.
There is no 'typical' number of sessions as everyone's needs are different. How long it takes to reach a successful outcome depends on the complexity of what you want to change. Talking therapy alone can be very effective for dealing with emotional issues or relationship difficulties. If you decide to try hypnotherapy, this is proven to be a quicker route to finding and addressing deep-rooted issues than through conventional counselling methods because we are able to work with the less-resistant subconscious mind,
Extended therapy sessions
Under certain circumstances longer consultations can prove more productive (e.g. in some relationship therapy with two or more people attending simultaneously.) Extended 90-minute sessions cost £115.00 (or £140 after 5.00pm.)
Some behavioural changes involve a very specific targeted process, e.g. stopping smoking. These require a 2-3 hour consultation, typically costing £200-300 (duration and price will be confirmed subject to the specific process agreed with each client.)
